Sand driving and conquering the dunes of Chaves!
Santa Monica Spectacular is a fantastic way to discover the south and west coasts of Boa Vista! Our 3.5 hour self drive guided quad tour route has been designed to take in the spectacular and stunning scenery around these famous coastlines.
Starting off relativley easy so you can familiarise with the quad our first stopping point is the oldest settlement on the island, Povoacao Velha located central south west on Boa Vista. Having driven across cobbled roads, dirt tracks and slightly rocky terrain to get to the village we'll take a pit stop for a drink at Bar Kaziza (and a quick toilet break if needed!) then set off for Santa Monica beach for an introduction to sand driving! You will make your way along the south coast maneuvering sandy tracks and rocky "roads" to Varandinha beach to take on some water and top up on the suncream and explore what we regard as one of the best beaches on the island!
This has been a nice introduction to sand driving and just as well as you leave Varandinha you appoach Morro de Areia to then conquer the dunes of Chaves!
Taking in the picture postcode views along the west coast winding through the 6-8 kms of dunes we'll then traverse our way along dust tracks, cobbled roads, a bit more dune driving finally arriving back to the garage, dirty, dusty and with a massive grin on our faces!
From the garage the driver who picked you up in the morning will take you to the beach bar where you will spend an additonal 2 hours (after the 4 hours on the quads) with welcome drink included, an opportunity to swim in the ocean, freshen up and exchange stories from your quad adventure and buy lunch and drinks if you wish!
The same driver will return to the beach bar after two hours and take you back to your hotel.

- You will be picked up by one of our drivers in either a Toyota Hilux pick up or a 15 seater Toyota Hiace outside the hotel security gates (not reception but outside the big arch leading into the main entrance of the hotel complex). Pick up time to be confirmed via email by us.
- Driver will take you up to meet your quad leader for the day, Jaime, who will lead you on tour.
- 4 hours south route
- Finish at the garage where you started out from.
- Same driver who collected you in the morning will pick you up from the garage and take you to the beach bar
- Additional 2 hours after the 4 hours on the quads at beach bar for swimming in the ocean, sunbathing, exhchanging stories from the days adventure! You can buy lunch and drinks directly from the beach bar if you wish.
- Same driver will pick you up from the beach bar and return you to your hotel

All pick ups will be from outside the hotel security gates and not recpetion. The security gates are located at the big arch that leads into the main entrance of the hotel complex.
Pick up time will be confirmed by us via email and determined by your hotel.
Usually pick up time from the security gates for each hotel as follows;
- Touareg - 7:45am
- Iberostar and Decameron - 8:20am
- Karamboa - 8:30am
- Sal Rei - 8:45am
Sometimes reception but more often than not from the same location as the pick up just outside the hotel security gates

*Depending on ocean conditions we hope you will get the chance to take a dip to cool down at some point on the tour however we will make the decision on the day and if the sea is too rough unfortunately you will not be permitted to swim.
*We will email you exact pick up time and location for your tour depending on which hotel you are staying in. Please look out for a second personal email from us with your times, location and more information about the quad tours and not just the automated booking email.
*There's an additonal 10% online booking fee if you confirm your booking through our online booking system. In order to avoid this charge please email us directly to arrange your booking!
